Petrolia School Reunion – June 13, 2026

The Importance and Significance of the 2026 Reunion:
This will Celebrate the 25th PESA School wide Reunion

The Class of 1966 will Celebrate 60 years

The Class of 1976 will Celebrate 50 years.

The Class of 1986 will Celebrate 40 years.

The Class of 1996 will Celebrate 30 years.

2023 School Reunion Report

  • 138Total attendees

  • 29 – Spouses and Guests
  • RG Holland, traveled the farthest from Florida, (Class of 1963)
  • Trudie Denney was the oldest ex-student attending, (Class of 1945)
  • Kayla Barger was youngest, (Class of 2021)
  • Winners of the Two Special Prize Drawing winners were: Paula Connolly Burt (Class of 1961) and Melba Ashton Farmer (Class of 1956)  The Drawing was part of the PESA Digital Records Conversion Project: converting the Current Handwritten Paper Records to a Digital Format.  Special Acknowledgement and thanks goes to Anita Myatt, owner and operator of Petrolia’s own Cadillac Ranch Creations who donated the Items awarded in the Special Drawing to winners Paula and Melba.  

PESA Officers:

The PESA Officers are elected by the PESA Members attending the regular business meeting at each Reunion. They serve a three year term.

The Current PESA Officers Elected in 2023:

  • President: John Swenson, Jr. – 1963
  • 1st VP:  Roger Thonton – 1966 – (in charge of printing & working up the program once a theme is decided)
  • 2nd VP:  Marchuetta Lundy Matthews – 1979 (In charge of hospitality–continental breakfast & greeters)
  • Co-Secretary-Treasurers:
    • Linda Young McKie – 1974
    • Paula Holland Swenson – 1966 (In charge of address collection, mailing notice of reunion, & finances, etc.)
  • Reporter – Sheryl Wilson Gunstanson – 1974 (in charge of reunion publicity & reporting.)

2023 PESA Reunion Business Meeting Report

The PESA Members Approved the following items:

  • Increasing the PESA Membership Dues to $10 (this increase will take affect at the 2026 Reunion) The PESA Dues had been $4/member for over 30 years.
  • A Proposal for a NEW PESA Web site and a three year introductory hosting fee with DreamHost prepared and presented to the officers in February by Wendy Coker and Kenneth Bitz.   (This Proposal as presented to the PESA Officers is available in the Files Area of the PESATX FB Group.)

Association Officers serve three year terms and are elected during the regular business meeting at each Reunion. The officers meet several times prior to each reunion to plan and organize it. The association president assigns the officers to head up the various committees which are responsible for the event. The officers recruit volunteers to serve on their committees to share the fun. A theme is selected by the officers for each reunion, which gives it a unique flavor.

  • Become a Member of the Petrolia Ex-Student Association
  • Complete the PESA Membership application
  • Mail Application and a check for $10.00, to the Petrolia Ex-Student Assoc., 7585 FM 810, Petrolia, TX 76377.

Thanks To the Class of 1947!

  • The Petrolia Class of 1947 met on Saturday, April 12, 1958 at the Petrolia High School for its first class reunion and formed the Petrolia Ex-Student Association.
  • The First Petrolia Ex-Students Association Reunion was held the following year on April 3-4, 1959. The PESA Reunions are open to any student who attended Petrolia Schools, not just graduates.

  • Vice President: Harold Reynolds
  • Secretaries: Betty Brown & Francis Childers

The PESA Reunions are open to all who attended Petrolia Schools and also, school staff who were employed by the district.
